Traffic Rules Compliance
Post: On top of narrow roads, weak infratructure, we have an attitude of 'who cares' on the roads in Bangalore. While I understand that there is a shortage of manpower on rods..here are some suggestions which could be debated for execution : a. Accelerated education of 'road rules' with warning of 'fines' - this to run for 3 months. b. Painting of all interestions in Bangalore with lane and stop disciplines. ( there was a time when we did not cross the stop line, lest we have to pay the fine of Rs.50/= ) c.3 months of campaign fine for collections across Bangalore. This will send a message that vilations of rules will not be tolerated. This can be done by a team of police and volunteers.. d. Some people will choose to continue to pay fine and ignore the law...impound their licenses to drive.. e. Like RoC regulations, make CEO's of companies who hire vehicles to ferry their empoloyees to make a statement every quarter that every vehicle used by thier company followed all traffic rules - right now they penalise the vehicles arriving late into the offices and the vehicle break all rules on the road to reach on time...this is seen every morning in brookfield where I reside and drive to office to EPIP area.. I feel this can make some impact on the office veicles not breaking rules. f.Educate people that no insurance - vehicle / life / medical will be entertained if they are injured or loose life in a road accident when they were violating the rule on the road... So on and so forth...I am sure none of the above ideas are new and I am sure everyone concerned to execute must be working on some or many of the above. As we say, these are my 2 cents..:o) Anand Chaturvedi
